About the Young Athletes Program, Developmental Sports/Jr. Athletes and Motor Activity Training Program (MATP)

Special Olympics New York Young Athletes is a sport and play program for children with and without intellectual disabilities (ID), up to age 7. It introduces basic sport skills and offers families, teachers, caregivers and people from the community the chance to share the joy of sports with all children.

Developmental Sports/Jr. Athletes Provides an age-appropriate introduction to sports for children with and without intellectual disabilities, ages 6 – 12 years old.

Motor Activity Training Program (MATP) Designed for athletes with profound disabilities whose physical and/or behavioral limitations preclude participation in traditional Special Olympics team and individual sports competitions.
